Is Cloaked Legit? Our Cloaked Review for 2026
Our Cloaked review verdict: Cloaked is a legitimate privacy app from Cloaked, Inc. of Lowell, Massachusetts (incorporated 2020), and its Individual plan costs $119.99 a year or $14.99 a month for email and phone aliases, data broker removal from what Cloaked calls 1,000+ sites, spam-call screening and up to $1 million of identity theft insurance (checked October 24, 2026). Skip it if you only want data removal: Cloaked's own coverage figures conflict, and no independent study has measured its removal rate.

Is Cloaked legit?
Cloaked is legit: it is a registered Massachusetts-based company with a public BBB file, a terms of service that names its address, and an insurance policy underwritten by AIG affiliates. Cloaked, Inc. lists 1075 Westford Street, Lowell, MA as its notice address, and BBB records the business as incorporated on August 27, 2020.
The trust signals are mixed rather than bad. BBB accredited Cloaked in June 2025 but rates it B, citing 44 complaints. Trustpilot shows 3.7 out of 5 from 774 reviews; Cloaked has claimed that profile and pays for a Trustpilot subscription. Cloaked’s trust page lists SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and PCI DSS badges, but names no auditor and offers no report to read, so treat those as Cloaked’s claims. We found no FTC enforcement action against Cloaked in the FTC’s case search on October 24, 2026.

How much does Cloaked cost?
Cloaked costs $119.99 a year or $14.99 a month for one person, checked October 24, 2026 on Cloaked’s plans page. Paying yearly saves $59.89 against twelve monthly payments.
| Plan | People | Billed yearly | Billed monthly | Per person per year (yearly plan) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Individual | 1 | $119.99 | $14.99 | $119.99 |
| Couple | 2 | $174.99 | $19.99 | $87.50 |
| Family | 4 | $299.99 | $29.99 | $75 |
Cloaked advertises the yearly plans as a monthly figure ($9.99 a month for Individual) with “Billed at $119.99 per year” underneath, so check which toggle you’re on. Every plan includes the same features; the plans differ only in how many people they cover.
How many data brokers does Cloaked remove you from?
Cloaked says it removes your data from 1,000+ sites, but its own September 2025 comparison post counts 140+ data brokers, and both figures come from Cloaked. The two numbers measure different things: the plans and features pages count “data brokers, people-search sites, data aggregators, and other sites”, while the blog post counts brokers only. Cloaked’s business description on its BBB profile also says “over 140 data broker websites”.
Cloaked doesn’t publish its full site list, so you can’t check which sites are covered before you pay. Cloaked’s help center says takedowns usually begin within 14 business days and full removals can take 2–3 months.
Cloaked wasn’t one of the 7 services in Consumer Reports’ 2024 removal study, so no independent removal rate exists for it. The best measured services were Optery’s Ultimate plan (68% of profiles removed in four months) and EasyOptOuts (65%).
The catches
Cloaked’s catches are about what you can’t verify and what stops working when you leave:
- Coverage is stated two ways. ”1,000+ sites” and ”140+ brokers” both come from Cloaked, and the site list isn’t published.
- No independent removal data. Unlike DeleteMe, Optery and EasyOptOuts, Cloaked has no Consumer Reports result.
- Phone aliases are VoIP numbers. Cloaked’s help center names Bank of America and AMEX among services that reject VoIP numbers, and says numbers left inactive for “an extended period” may be released. A paid eSIM add-on, in beta, is Cloaked’s workaround.
- Refunds are at Cloaked’s discretion. The terms say charges “are final and non-refundable, unless otherwise determined by Cloaked.”
- Canceling switches everything off. Your account goes read-only: aliases stop handling calls and texts, removal requests stop and the insurance ends. Move important accounts off your aliases before you cancel.
Cloaked vs Aura, DeleteMe and Incogni
Cloaked is the only one of these four with phone aliases, while Incogni is the cheapest way to get data removal alone.
| Service | Price, 1 person | Removal coverage (vendor-stated) | Consumer Reports 2024 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloaked Individual | $119.99 a year | 1,000+ sites, or 140+ brokers | Not included |
| Aura Individual | $12 a month, billed yearly | 425+ brokers and sites | Not included |
| DeleteMe Standard | $129 a year | 91 sites marked Standard (our count) | 27% removed in 4 months |
| Incogni Standard | $95.88 a year | 420+ brokers | Not included |
Aura also includes credit monitoring and up to $1 million of insurance; see how Aura compares on identity protection if that matters more than aliases. If removal is the only job, compare data removal services ranked by broker coverage, or read about Incogni’s automated removals and DeleteMe’s human-handled requests, and how Incogni and DeleteMe compare. You can also remove your information yourself for free.
How to cancel Cloaked (and get a refund)
Cloaked cancels from your subscription settings if you paid by card or PayPal:
- Go to my.cloaked.com/settings/subscription.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
- Click Confirm.
In the mobile app, tap the profile icon, then Settings, then Subscription and Cancel. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, cancel in that store. Cloaked keeps your plan running until the end of the period you paid for. Refund requests go to support and are reviewed by hand; the terms promise none. If you use Call Guard, turn it off yourself, because it runs through your carrier’s call forwarding.
