Aura prices and plans (2026)

Aura has three identity plans and a Kids plan; the identity plans cost $144, $264 and $384 a year, checked on Aura’s site on October 24, 2026.

Aura’s checkout shows the yearly charge next to a crossed-out reference price, and Aura’s terms say a plan renews “at the price shown in your account dashboard”. Aura doesn’t publish that renewal price, so check your dashboard before the first year ends. Each plan has a 14-day free trial, once per customer. The 60-day money-back guarantee covers annual plans bought from Aura’s website or support team, and you request it by phone.

What Aura includes

Every adult Aura plan includes identity and credit monitoring, a credit lock, device security and data broker removal; Family adds parental controls.

  • Identity and credit monitoring: 3-bureau credit monitoring, an instant credit lock, home and auto title monitoring and financial transaction alerts. Aura’s credit score is based on your Equifax file, and Aura notes it’s not the score lenders use.
  • Data broker removal: requests to 425+ data brokers, people-search sites and junk mailers, per Aura. Dedicated data removal services publish their own site lists if removal is your main goal.
  • Device security: antivirus, a VPN and a password manager, on 10 devices (Individual), 20 (Couple) or unlimited (Family).
  • Family extras: parental controls and AI spam call and message protection on Family. Child members get online account and Social Security number monitoring only.

Is Aura legit? The March 2026 data breach

Aura is a legitimate company, and in March 2026 it disclosed that an outsider accessed about 900,000 records after phishing one employee by phone. Here is what the public record says, in Aura’s words where it gave them.

  • How it happened: a targeted phone phishing attack on one employee; the outsider had access to that employee’s account for about an hour (Aura statement).
  • What was accessed: about 900,000 records, the vast majority names and email addresses from a marketing tool of a company Aura acquired in 2021. Contact details (name, email, home address, phone) of fewer than 20,000 active and 15,000 former customers were included.
  • What wasn’t, per Aura: on March 19, 2026 Aura said no database behind its identity protection app was accessed, and no Social Security numbers, financial information, credit records or passwords were compromised.
  • Independent count: Have I Been Pwned added the breach on March 18, 2026 with 903,080 email addresses. Its listing also names IP addresses and customer service records among the exposed data.

Is it safe to give Aura your Social Security number? Aura says sensitive data such as Social Security numbers, credit files and payment details is encrypted with tightly restricted access, and that none of it was in the exposed set. That is Aura’s account; we found no published independent audit of the incident. We found no FTC or state attorney general action against Aura when we checked on October 24, 2026.

Downsides of Aura

Aura’s main downsides are an unpublished renewal price, a phone-only refund and paying for tools you may already have.

  • Renewal price unknown up front: Aura’s terms tie renewal to your account dashboard, not a public list.
  • Refunds by phone: the 60-day guarantee needs a call to Aura, and Amazon purchases don’t qualify.
  • You may pay for tools you have: if you already pay for antivirus and a password manager, a single-purpose service such as Incogni, which does data removal only, may cost less.
  • Kids plan has no identity insurance: the Kids plan lists parental controls only; child identity monitoring comes with Family.

Aura vs alternatives

Aura costs less than LifeLock’s plans with 3-bureau credit monitoring, while a free credit freeze covers the most basic risk at no cost.

OptionPrice (1 adult)Best for
Aura Individual$144/yrMonitoring, insurance and device security in one app
LifeLock Advanced$199.99/yr3-bureau monitoring plus $5,000 scam reimbursement
LifeLock Core$124.99/yrLowest price, 2-bureau monitoring
Credit freeze (DIY)FreeBlocking new credit accounts in your name

Our Aura vs LifeLock comparison lines up both at every household size, and LifeLock’s full price list has all 9 plans, and we ask whether LifeLock is worth it on its own. The FTC says placing or lifting a credit freeze costs nothing, and you can remove your information yourself from people-search sites.

Aura review verdict: who should get it, and who should skip it

Get Aura if you want one bill for identity monitoring, insurance, data removal and device security; skip it if you need only one of those.

  • Get it: a family with kids and up to 5 adults, or one adult who wants 3-bureau monitoring for less than LifeLock Advanced.
  • Skip it: you only want data broker removal, you already freeze your credit and use a password manager, or you want scam reimbursement built in.

We reviewed Aura from its published prices, terms, insurance summaries and public incident record (how we review); we didn’t sign up or run the app ourselves.
