How do the Vanta and Drata plans compare?
Vanta has four plans (Essentials, Plus, Professional, Enterprise) and Drata has three (Foundation, Advanced, Enterprise), per each vendor’s plan page on October 24, 2026.
| Vanta plan | What it adds | Drata plan | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | One framework, evidence collection, Trust Center | Foundation | Up to 50 FTEs, one framework from a fixed list, risk management, compliance as code, open API |
| Plus | 25 questionnaires a year, access management | Advanced | Any framework, custom tests, custom fields |
| Professional | 144 questionnaires a year, risk management, advanced Trust Center, custom tests | Enterprise | User access reviews, Risk Management Pro, Compliance as Code Pro |
| Enterprise | Custom package |
Drata’s Foundation plan caps you at 50 employees and one of five frameworks: SOC 2, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, HIPAA or GDPR. A company needing PCI DSS or CMMC starts on Drata Advanced.
Frameworks and integrations
Vanta says it supports SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR and 35+ frameworks and pulls data from 400+ tools, per its homepage. Drata’s integrations page says it connects to hundreds of tools without giving a total, and its AWS listing prices 13 frameworks, including NIST SP 800-53, ISO 27701, FFIEC and DORA.
Both cover the common startup frameworks. Check each vendor’s integration list for your own stack (cloud provider, identity provider, HR system, ticketing) before you sign; a missing integration means collecting that evidence by hand.
Trust Center and security questionnaires
Vanta includes a Trust Center on every plan and adds AI questionnaire automation from Plus (25 a year) and Professional (144 a year). Drata includes Trust Center Standard and AI Questionnaire Assistance Standard on Foundation.
If you answer many customer security questionnaires, price Vanta Plus or Professional against Drata’s add-ons. On AWS, Vanta’s Questionnaire Automation add-on lists at $10,000 a year for 144 questionnaires.
What neither Vanta nor Drata includes
Neither Vanta nor Drata includes the SOC 2 audit or a penetration test. Both help you find an auditor (Vanta through its auditor network, Drata through its Audit Hub), but the audit fee goes to a CPA firm. Our SOC 2 budget adds the audit and pentest to the software cost, and our pentest prices page covers the test itself.
Which should you choose?
Pick by headcount and framework count, using list prices on AWS Marketplace:
- A 15-person startup needing SOC 2: Vanta Essentials lists at $14,000 against $15,000 for Drata Foundation. Vanta is $1,000 cheaper at list.
- An 80-person company needing SOC 2 and ISO 27001: Drata lists at $40,000. Vanta doesn’t publish a price at that size, so get a Vanta quote and compare.
- An engineering-led team that wants compliance checks in the pipeline: Drata includes compliance as code on every plan, per its plans page.
Vanta says it has more than 16,000 customers; Drata says it has 8,500+. Both are large, established vendors, so the decision is about price and fit.
